Kindergarten students visited the library for a read aloud of "Dear Dragon" by Josh Funk. We learned about rhymes to support classroom curriculum. The students had so much fun pointing out the rhymes in the story. We love reinforcing learning in the library, and our efforts provided us with a response from Author Josh Funk on Twitter. 😀
It's so exciting when we win books for our school library. Thank you to Running Press Kids for supporting our students reading by providing these new non-fiction books. We can't wait to start learning!
Congratulations to our student who earned a "Pop Open More Books" badge in Beanstack for our first week of the reading challenge! Students who read 20 minutes per day for a total of 140 minutes per week and log the minutes in Beanstack earn a bag of popcorn on Friday. The reading challenges run from Friday to the following Thursday. We had 19 students participate this week! Pop Open More Books Reading Challenge Schedule Ms. McDonald's 3rd grade class came in to do library orientation. Students completed a Goosechase scavenger hunt to learn all things library. Look at their excitement and concentration.
“Thank you, Mrs. Quintana, for this game.”😃 New this year! Library ambassadors, our junior librarians, visit the library to help students, scan books, and help set up new activity stations, among other fun things (their words). It is so amazing when students ask to spend time in the library because they love it so much!
The library is for everyone! We love when Mr. Hayes, our school custodian, stops by the library to complete a puzzle. Many times he stops by to read with the students. We are all educators at Fair Oaks Elementary because we want our students to succeed.
Students have time to visit the library each morning from 7:15 am-7:40 am to check out and return books PLUS stop for a checker game with Ms. Martinez. The school library has several game stations for students thanks to a grant received last school year through Donor's Choose. We are so thankful!
Look at the teamwork! Our Fair Oaks Eagles have a new mini Lego wall in the library. Legos support the 4 Cs & STEM using the engineering design process/Lego challenges. We can’t wait to see what our students create! |
